Disgruntled Diva

You haven’t heard from me in a while. I have been swamped, buried, preoccupied, whatever term you want to use for busy times ten! For the first time in my Tuck career, I feel like I am up against so much, have so many competing priorities that I can’t get it all done.

Just s few short weeks ago, I was writing about “my game” and all the mental preparation I was making for my upcoming interviews.

Well, the first half of the fall term has passed, we had a break and then somehow everything broke loose! I don’t really have time to study and I am just barely, feeding my kid! Things are rough…

Anyone who has met me over the past few days has heard me ranting about my anger and upset because “they” have overscheduled us. I have somehow laid the blame for my misery squarely on the collective known as “tuck” somehow they are doing something to me…

But then I look around. And one thing is true: you are never alone at Tuck. My classmates are right in the thick of it with me. I just don’t think they are as vocal as me…and I wonder why?

But if I am honest, I know the deal. Somehow I believed that the “getting a job” portion of B school was going to come to me without the work that everyone else is putting in– that they have been putting in since last year.

Now I am a bit ashamed.

What I can tell you as you consider the B school journey that whenever you think you are above it all, you will come crashing down. You are among an elite group and if they are working hard to find a job, no matter how qualified you are, you might want to check in to what they are doing, to see what’s in it for you. Then you can make an informed choice instead of an arrogant and painful choice like me.

I can assure you (from experience) divas and divos can be trained. However I suggest you learn from my mistakes…!
