Spring. The snow is melting, the temperature is rising, and most importantly, Spring Break is here! Whether you’ve been back a school for a few weeks, a week, or you’re lucky enough to be on Spring Break right now, getting back into the school swing can be a challenge. Especially when that swing includes [subject:'sat' studying for your SATs]. Here are some tips to help you get your mind off the beach, and back in the books.
- Give yourself a clean slate. Forgive yourself for your poor study habits and makes a study plan to get on track. If you already had good study habits, this is a fantastic time to review how you’ve been studying and see if you can’t make your study routine a great one!
- Change it up! Since you’re already reviewing your study routine, see how you can shake it up a bit. If you’ve been studying at night, try doing it first things in the morning, or directly after school. By the way, did you know you retain more information, and complete tasks faster in the mornings than late at night?
- Keep your eye on the prize – literally. Mark the test date on your calendar and keep it in a place you’ll see it every day. This will help keep you focused on the fact that the SAT is coming up in 2 weeks, or 23 days instead of letting your mind excuse you from studying since the test seems like “forever” away.
- Get outside. Sitting for hours after all that time off would be hard for anyone, so give your body a chance to work off some of that excess energy. With the temperatures rising, it’s a fantastic time to get outside for a run around the block, a bike ride, or even a game of pick up football with your friends – just make sure you go back inside to the books when the game is over.
