Cornell’s NYC Meet and Greet

Last night, I went to the meet and greet at this place call the Ainsworth. First of, I would like to say that they picked a great spot– nice atmosphere and cute waitresses. It didn’t hurt that it was two blocks from where I live – very convenient indeed. I got there exactly at 6 and there were people already there. After signing in and putting on a name tag, it was time to mingle. By 7, a surprisingly number of Cornell people showed up. Every other person must have been either a 1st year student or a recent admit. Most of the students were pretty engaging and enthusiastic about the school. Anyway, I made it an especial point to seek out those finance students and ask about the Cornell trading floor and student run fund. I like what I heard about how the two adds to the hands-on practical experience learning that I can put on my resume. Obviously, I also ask about life in Ithaca. And people said that although it is a small town, it is a tight-knit community and everyone enjoys the time they are having so far. By the time I left, which was a little bit after 8, the place was still packed with Cornell peeps. I’m looking forward to getting the last edits done and submitting in early January.
Also, I recognized a 1st year student who was at last year’s GMATClub.com happy hour. I will probably see him again this Wednesday with other GMATClubbers at this place near NYU. Here is the link for anyone interested. http://gmatclub.com/forum/nyc-meetup-wed-dec-23rd-6-00pm-88111.html
