Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management earlier this week announced a new partnership with the Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, a leading university in China. The new program, which mirrors an existing Johnson program with China’s Nanjing University, will include training sessions at Johnson for Guanghua students, a biennial conference on managing inter-cultural interactions and multicultural teams and an MBA student exchange program.
Students from both the Johnson School and the Guanghua School are expected to benefit from the new partnership. “Students from Peking will likely be senior executives or government officials, so providing this opportunity for connection with the Johnson School and our students will offer all parties an invaluable chance for networking and global learning,” said Ya-Ru Chen, professor of Management and Global Business at the Johnson School, in a statement announcing the alliance. It also will help establish Johnson’s credibility in and commitment to the Chinese market as the school seeks to expand its footprint globally, Chen added.
Expanding its global reach is a primary component of the Johnson School’s long-term strategic plan. In addition to this new alliance with Peking University and the existing partnership with China’s Nanjing University, Johnson also boasts an innovative Executive MBA degree program with Canada’s Queens University, which reaches professionals in more than 20 U.S. and Canadian cities, and growing partnerships in Dubai, Colombia and India.
