Earlier this week, Clear Admit Senior Admissions Counselor and Columbia Business School (CBS) expert Deena Maerowitz shared tips on how to tackle the CBS application essays as part of online MBA community Beat the GMAT’s “Write Like an Expert” series.
Beat the GMAT tapped Maerowitz, a former associate director of admissions at CBS, to provide prospective applicants with an insider’s view on just what the CBS admissions team is hoping to learn as it reads applicants’ answers to its two required essay questions for this year.
In the online video, Maerowitz breaks down the questions one at a time, providing critical advice on how to craft successful responses that best showcase an individual applicant’s strengths and particular fit with CBS.
“What you want to make sure that you do is be very clear about what you want to do both immediately after business school and, say, five or ten years down the line,” she advises. “You need to talk about why Columbia specifically is the program that is going to work for you,” she adds.
More than 100 people tuned in to hear Maerowitz live, which contributed to a lengthy and informative question-and-answer session following her presentation. Beat the GMAT has since published a recorded video of the online event. To view it, click here.
