Chicago Booth School of Business Dean Search Enters Final Stages

The University of Chicago Booth School of Business has not yet appointed a new dean, but the school issued a recent statement to faculty indicating that the search is in its final stages and that a further announcement is expected by the end of this month, the Financial Times reports.

The school’s previous dean, Ted Snyder, stepped down on June 30th. He will take a year’s leave before assuming the deanship at Yale School of Management beginning in July 2011.

According to the FT, the statement to faculty at Chicago Booth went on to say that the school’s three deputy deans – Stacey Kole, deputy dean of the full-time MBA program, Mark Zmijewski and Richard Leftwich, deputy dean for faculty – will run the school until a new dean is named.

According to the FT report, the announcement suggests that Chicago Booth will look outside its own faculty for a successor to Snyder, although most of those who have been mentioned thus far as possible replacements are internal candidates.
