In anticipation of its fast approaching April 13th Round 3 deadline, the Admissions Office at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business devoted a recent post on its Booth Insider Blog to applicants still considered whether or not to apply in this final round.
“It’s true that Round 3 can be more competitive than previous rounds because there are fewer spaces available since the majority of acceptances come from Rounds 1 and 2,” read the post. “However, we are still continuing to shape our class in Round 3 and are looking for applicants who would be wonderful additions to our community.”
Given that Round 3 is a particularly competitive round, the Admissions Committee advises prospective applicants to apply only if they are prepared to submit the best possible application, one that provides a clear picture of who you are and why you want to pursue and MBA. “The Admissions Committee can tell when an application has been rushed, so take your time and make sure you have an application strategy in place that leverages each aspect of your application to tell your story,” the post advised.
Although Chicago Booth does encourage international students to apply in Rounds 1 or 2, this recommendation is just intended to allow plenty of time for students who will have to move across the globe to make the many transitions involved in the process. But since Round 3 decisions are released in mid-May and orientation doesn’t take place until the first week of September, international students who opt to apply in this final round should still have time to process their visas throughout the summer, the Admissions Committee writes.
“If you know that Booth is one of your top choices, and you’ve put together a strong, thoughtful, and engaging application that lets your personality shine through, then we definitely encourage you to apply in Round 3,” offered the post in conclusion.
For those of you planning to apply as part of Chicago Booth’s third round, remember that the deadline to submit your complete application is tomorrow, April 13th. Good luck!
