I would be rich if I had a $1.00 for every time an MBA applicant would describe his or her post-MBA goal as “Marketing,” “Finance,” or “General Management.” Complete non-answers.

Those terms are descriptions of areas of interest, concentrations, and courses of study. They are not post-MBA goals. A post MBA goal would describe something you would like to do, usually in terms of your desired function and industry. If you are a 2011 applicant still struggling to define your MBA goals or a 2012 applicant planning ahead and doing the necessary leg-work to hone your goals, the Forté Foundation’s career development webinars will speak directly to you.

Their 4-series webinar event, which takes place this week, December 7-10, explores the various industry options available to MBA graduates. Each webinar is one hour long and allows for Q&A with the leading businessmen and businesswomen who will be leading the informative sessions.
