Changes Ahead in Admissions at Stanford Graduate School of Business…?

According to a September 9th posting on LinkedIn, the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) is seeking a new full-time director for its MBA Admissions Office. Though we have not yet received confirmation from the school, this would certainly suggest that Derrick Bolton, who has served as the admissions director since 2001, is headed elsewhere.

For Stanford GSB to name a new admissions director would certainly cement that this is a year of change among top MBA programs. Already this summer, three major staff changes have taken place at top-tier schools, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Longtime admissions director Rose Martinelli left Chicago Booth in July and was replaced by Kurt Ahlm, a member of the existing admissions team. Stephanie Fujii took the reins at the Haas School, replacing Peter Johnson, who had been director for the past decade. And Ankur Kumar took over day-to-day admissions responsibilities at Wharton as former director J.J. Culter stepped into a vice dean position with oversight of both admissions and career services.

Don’t miss our Admissions Director Q&A Series, which features interviews with each of these new directors. (Look for Ahlm’s Q&A to post later this week…) And in the meantime, we’ll plan to stay on top of the developing story at Stanford GSB and share any news we learn from the school or from Bolton himself.
