Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business Appoints Interim Dean

The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) announced yesterday that Mark Kamlet, CMU provost and executive vice president, will serve as acting dean of the business school effective January 1, 2011.

In this interim appointment, Kamlet will replace Dean Kenneth Dunn, who steps down at the end of the year from the post he has held since 2002. Kamlet sent a memo to the business school community explaining that he will serve as acting dean until a new dean is in place. A university search committee is currently conducting a search for a new, permanent dean, and a decision is expected “within a reasonable amount of time,” Kamlet wrote.

Calling Dunn a “seminal dean in the history of the business school,” Kamlet noted that his accomplishments have helped place the school in a strong position as it looks toward the future.
