A Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating in the U.S.!  Today’s Campus Chronicles hails from New York City and The Stern Opportunity, the newspaper serving the MBA community at NYU Stern.

The 15th annual Stern Charity Ball raised nearly $20,000 in charity donations.  This event occurred in early November and provided a triumvirate of Kings and Queens of Stern as voted by the students.  Each vote raised one dollar for the 2011 charity, CFY.  The organization empowers local children from low-income households by putting modern technology at their fingertips.

Twelve students in the Stern Social Enterprise Association attended the annual Net Impact Conference in Portland.  Panels were held to focus on topics such as Social Innovation and Environmental Sustainability.  The conference was attended more 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students, professionals, exhibitors and speakers.  A Stern ’13 reflected that “Net Impact was a reminder that the imperative to make business work for a better world reaches far beyond the Stern community.”

Late October saw the occurrence of Stern’s first Quinquennial Reunion.  The event comprised almost 600 alumni who represented over  25 classes spanning 50 years.  Those 2011 reunioning classes have to date raised over $2 million to support Stern.  After a day of programming events, the reunion concluded at the Waldorf Astoria.
