Beyond the MBA Classroom: UCLA Anderson Fashion Show

When you select an MBA program, you are not just choosing your learning environment, but are also making a commitment to a community. Each Thursday, we offer a window into life “beyond the MBA classroom” at a top business school.

In May 2011, the Retail Management Association, a student club at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, presented the 10th annual Anderson Charity Fashion Show, featuring designers such as LaRok, Shoshanna, David Meister and more. This popular event takes place each year during spring quarter. The 2009 show attracted more than 400 attendees and raised thousands of dollars for several nonprofit organizations, including the Special Olympics.

According to the Retail Management Association’s Web site, the event was “originally created to spotlight the distinct style of Los Angeles … the show has grown tremendously and now attracts support from top international designers.” The fashion models each year include Anderson students and even some professors. In addition to the runway show, the event includes open bar, dinner, music performances and a silent auction. VIP ticket holders will even receive a gift bag with lots of goodies to take home.
