When you select an MBA program, you are not just choosing your learning environment, but are also making a commitment to a community. Each Thursday, we offer a window into life “beyond the MBA classroom” at a top business school.
One of the newest events on the University of Michigan Ross School of Business social calendar, Ross Out for Business hosted its first school-wide party, called MBgAy, in 2009. The event, which sold out very quickly, was held at a club in Ann Arbor and featured a drag fashion show followed by dancing. Profits were split between a local charity and a new scholarship fund being developed by the club. One first-year student mbaMission spoke to just days after the February 2011 party (which raised $1,000 for a scholarship fund at Ross for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered students) described the event as a “must see – for everyone.”
