An exhilerating start

I’m three days and seven classes in to being a Tuck student. It’s been a whirlwind. There is not a doubt in my mind that coming here was the best decision I’ve ever made.

I left my first class, the Yellowtail case in Analysis for General Managers led by Professor Paul Argenti, with my veins pumped full of adrenaline. No joke. This was unlike any class experience I’ve ever had (including during visits to many other schools). Fast pace. Smart classmates. World class teaching. Tangible learning. Debates have raged on between my classmates for days since and are still going.

We had a rare joint lecture this afternoon from Profs Argenti and Finkelstein, talking us through their recently published books. Both are typical of Tuck’s faculty – internationally acclaimed researchers and writers who are utterly terrific in the classroom. I was in the presence of greatness, and it was inviting me back to its office to further discuss its insights and teaching.

I’m writing this from the wooden decking at the back of Raether hall. My view through the tall pines takes in the Connecticut river and the deep green of the pre-fall New Hampshire hills. The air is more than clean. I’m smiling.
