This week’s adventures as a first-year associate took me to the corporate codes of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maryland, as well as the series regulars Delaware and California. The week felt busy by comparison to the rest of my year, but was really just on-target as far as billables are concerned. Here’s hoping the trend continues.
In other news, I made it out to Pasadena for dinner via the topsy turvy 110N. Once the freeway ended and Pasadena began, I turned down a few side streets to check out the housing. People keep telling me that Pasadena is the Orange County of Los Angeles. This may be true, but the homes I saw in Pasadena had more character and maturity than my native, master-planned OC. Still, this neighborhood felt familiar–a lot like the neighborhood Steve Martin came home to as George Banks in Father of the Bride, a movie that I must have watched a hundred times as a kid (Google later confirmed this hunch as accurate).
Speaking of neighborhoods that show promise, a fellow blogger was so kind as to introduce me to her stomping grounds in West Hollywood. What a great place! It’s fairly walkable and felt like a legitimate neighborhood. This part of town seems more appropriate for where I am in my life (Pasadena struck me as a place for families, not singles–correct me if I’m wrong). I’ve also noticed that a lot of the restaurants or activities on my to-try-in-LA list are focused in this area.
