Looks and feels like Fall has finally set in. I know this because I usually get up at 6AM for work and it’s getting harder and harder everyday waking up to the cold. All I want to do is stay in my warm and comfy bed. Plus, it also means I don’t get to wear my beloved flip-flops anymore. Besides that, I have to admit that Fall is one of my favorite seasons – especially in New York. The City is beautiful what with the leaves on the trees turning brown and as you walk down the street breathing in the crispy cold air. Plus, the holidays are coming up and stores are more decorative. So it’s always fun around this time of year.
I didn’t do much this weekend. Just hung out with friends, watched football (Go Giants!), and overindulged on eating and drinking a bit. But my three-day weekend wasn’t a total waste. I did meet up with one of my readers who is also a 1st year student at NYU. We met up at a bookstore Saturday afternoon and went over to this bagel place for lunch. We chatted for quite a while about life and bschool in general – it was a pretty rounded off-tangent conversation. But it was pretty cool of him to let me pick his brain about NYU. He was helpful and even gave me some specific ideas for my essays. Talking to him did make me feel better about NYU.
I was also thinking about what a friend told me earlier. She knew I was pretty bummed out about Columbia. But she also said that there’s a reason for everything. Even if Columbia isn’t in my future, that doesn’t mean that bschool is the be all – end all to life. Fate/destiny will always have a way of sorting things out. This is just a minor moment in my life that I will look back at and laugh. If you couldn’t tell by now, she’s the “Dr. Phil” of our group. But she is right. I can’t dwell on the past and just have to move forward.
