After a chaotic IIT-JEE, AIEEE give students a reason to rejoice

After a chaotic [test:'Online-IIT-JEE-2009-Solution-Paper---2' IIT-JEE], printing errors and a tough mathematics paper had left students in a tizzy, AIEEE aspirants were in for a pleasant surprise. The paper was considered better and easier than IIT-JEE by most students, and the exam went off smoothly without any hiccups. Students are hoping the same for the upcoming [test:'bitsat-online-test-papers' BITSAT].

As the exam is based on NCERT prescribed CBSE syllabus, AIEEE aspirants from state boards found the paper difficult to answer.

Most coaching institutes found the paper neither very tough nor easy. They thought it was an average paper. Lot of questions were picked straight from the book and comprehension type questions were also easy.

Satisfied with the pattern of the paper, Aakash Chaudhry, CEO and Director of Aakash Educational Services Ltd, said, “the level of the AIEEE 2010 can be considered as an average level paper as compared to last year’s AIEEE exam. Physics and Chemistry were quite easy and Mathematics will be the deciding factor for students who are aiming for higher rank.”

However, Pramod Maheshwari, Director and CEO of Career Point Infosystems Ltd, differed with Chaudhury’s views and said students were not satisfied with Physics as they found that paper tougher than last year’s physics paper. Maheshwari was also not satisfied with the distribution of marks among the questions. He felt few questions have been allotted 8 marks which is not fair in multiple choice based competitive examinations.

While the selection process is hailed as one of the best in the country, experts believe there is always scope for improvement like a provision or weightage for personal interview and/or aptitude test towards final selection in top colleges like NITs, IIITs would go a long way in ensuring the best talent gets selected.
